Day Camp (Akela Days)

Our council holds a two-day, belt loop fair / day camp in Effingham from 8:30am to 3:30 pm each day.  Scouts will cover the requirements for several belt loops, including BB and Archery, to aid in their advancement. Aside from the belt loops, there will be plenty of fun with both games and crafts planned.  There is a trading post available each day of the camp with assorted scouting items, snacks, and drinks for sale.  Registration dates and forms will be announced in the spring.

Overnight Camp (Cub Scout Summer Camp)

Cub Scout Summer Camp is a three-day, two-night camp held at Rhodes-France Scout Reservation in Pana, IL. It is open to ALL registered Cub Scouts. Scouts participate in BB gun shooting, archery, swimming, and hiking as well as many other crafts and organized activities.  Cub Scout registration includes a camp T- shirt, patch, mug and 5 meals. Adults and little hunters (siblings) will receive 5 meals, a patch and a mug. Additional T-shirts, patches and mugs will be available at the trading post along with other scouting items, snacks and drinks. Registration dates and forms will be available in the spring.

WEBELOS Woods Overnight Camp

WEBELOS Woods is a four-day, three-night WEBELOS only camp that focuses on WEBELOS badge and Arrow of Light requirements. It is held at Rhodes-France Scout Reservation in Pana, IL. The scouts that attend WEBELOS Woods will experience a camp that will help prepare them for the next part of their scouting adventure, Boy Scouts. During this camp, the WEBELOS will be split into patrols and get to experience the patrol method. With help from the Boy Scouts on staff, the WEBELOS will make a patrol flag, come up with a patrol yell, and compete in patrol activities to see which patrol is the best. Classes focus on WEBELOS Activity Pins and the Cub Scouts Academics and Sports Program. The scouts will camp with their units in the campsites, and are encouraged to practice camping like a patrol while there. Units should assign scouts to do some of the tasks that they may be assigned as Boy Scouts, including fire warden, quartermaster, patrol leader and assistant patrol leader.
