WHY JOIN PACK 55?

As a parent, you want your son to grow up to be a
self-reliantdependable and caring individual. Scouting has these same goals in mind for him. Since 1910 we have been weaving lifetime values into fun and educational activities designed to assist parents in strengthening character, developing good citizenshipenhancing physical fitnessbuilding self-esteem and ethical values in youth

Scouting teaches family values … We know that boys do not join scouting just to get their character built.  Boys join because it is fun.

SCOUTING IS FUN WITH A PURPOSE!

What does your son learn in Scouting? Well, it is a lot more than crafts, games, and outdoor skills. All of the Cub Scout programs in which you and your son will participate in are carefully designed to teach your son something he will use throughout his life. Every activity is specially designed for your son’s age, development, and personal needs. Here are just a few of the things your son will gain through Cub Scouting:

·     A feeling of belonging to a positive and fun group of boys and caring adults.

·     New social skills that will help him get along with others.

·     Develop new mental skills from reading and writing, top lanning and organizing.

·     A greater understanding of other people and the world around him.

·     A system of values that will help him grow and make good decisions.

·     A concern and caring for people, and even opportunities to help others.

·     The value of family by fostering quality family time to strengthen the bond between parent and child.

·     Leadership skills through leading other boys.

·     Citizenship by teaching him how to be a responsible member of his community.

·     Self-confidence and stronger self-esteem.

In a society where your son is often taught that winning is everything, Cub Scouting teaches him to “do his best” and be helpful to others as expressed in the Cub Scout Promise. These values help your son make good decisions throughout his lifetime and give him confidence as he becomes an adult leader of tomorrow. With all the negative influences in today’s society, Scouting provides your son with a positive peer group and a program that is fun and adventurous and helps him to “be prepared” to shape his own future. The best thing about it all is that you as a parent get to participate in this adventure to learn and experience the Cub Scout program along with your son, making it all the more special and valuable through your involvement in Scouting with him!

What will my son do in Cub Scouts?

Cub Scouts will do a wide variety of activities as they navigate through the Cub Scout program and earn their next rank badge.  During the summer we have camping, canoeing, day trips, bicycle rides on area trails, go fishing, and all sorts of other things that kids (and parents) like to do during the summer.  Then shortly after school starts we meet for weekly den meetings where Cub Scouts and at least one of their parents or a guardian work to complete seven Adventures that lead them to earning their next Cub Scout rank.  If your son and a parent or guardian is able to attend this once a week meeting that usually lasts less than 90 minutes and some of our camp outs or day trips then your son will have completed the requirements to advance to their next rank.  At Pack 55 we see Cub Scouts as a family activity that helps bring families together around the common interests that makeup the foundation of what Cub Scouts is all about.

Here are a few videos to introduce you to the Cub Scouting program.
